Airport Expansion To Include Hotel Facility
The expansion of Ngurah Rai airport that is targeted for completion in 2013 will include hotel facilities as part of the massive overhaul project. Director of Angkasa Pura I Tommy Soetomo said on Monday that the hotel development is intended to support the airport’s other new facilities.
Tommy was quick to claim that Ngurah Rai is not trying to expand into their hospitality business. “If there is a delayed plane and the passengers need a break they can go to the hotel. Simply a place to shower and have breakfast. More like a transit hotel.”
The plan is to build the new terminal at the same time as the hotel, reported Kompas. Due to the APEC conference in Bali in November 2013, the airport expansion will include a passenger terminal covering an area of 130,000 square meters, estimated at a cost of approximately Rp 2 trillion.
